783 million people (11% of the World's population) remain without access to an improved source of drinking water (2012 estimate). Adequate sources include: household connections, public standpipes, boreholes, protected dug wells, protected springs, and rainwater collections. At the same time, according to the United Nations Resolution of July 28, 2010, every human has the right to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible, and affordable water for personal and domestic uses.
