Zimride is a web application for carpooling that targets college, university and corporate communities, allowing verified classmates, faculty, coworkers or staff to share the ride. It primarily enables carpooling for long-haul intercity commutes. Organizations must first contract Zimride before their members can register. It was founded in 2007 by Logan Green and John Zimmer. Zimride later developed and spun off the popular Lyft App. In July 2013, Enterprise Holdings acquired Lift. Zimride not only helps reduce the number of vehicles in the road and in parking lots, but also enables members of a community to further connect.
