In operation since 2007, the PS10 is the world's first commercial concentrating solar power plant to use tower technology. It comprises 624 heliostats (large movable mirrors) that concentrate solar radiation on a receiver located at the top of the 115 m (377 ft) central tower. With an output of 11 MW, the plant has enough electricity to meet the demand of approximately 5,500 households per year, preventing the release of 6,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually. It is located at the Solucar Complex, near Seville, Spain.
