A high-speed twin-engine turboprop transport airplane featuring an unconventional three-lifting-surface configuration and push propellers. The P180 configuration allows reducing internal noise in the cabin, and reduce fuel consumption. The perceived propeller noise inside the P180's cabin is minimal compared to that of other turboprops, since the P180's propeller is located aft of the passenger cabin. Similarly, the placement of the propeller behind the wing enables a laminar air flow throughout most of the wing, significantly increasing aerodynamic efficiency. The original Avanti was certified in 1990. An upgraded version, the Avanti II, entered service in 2005, while a new version, the Avanti Evo, is expected for 2015. It has a seat capacity of up to 9 passengers. The P180 is produced by Piaggio Aerospace (formerly known as Piaggio Aero Industries, and Rinaldo Piaggio).
